Controls:

(Controller guide is setup for Xbox controllers)

Arrow keys / WASD / Main joystick: Basic movement.

C key / A button: Use the item in your hand. Without an item, you can also collect and move plants and attempt to tame animals.

V key / B button: Put an item away into your inventory.

X key / Y button: Command your troupe to attack an enemy. Press repeatedly to cycle between multiple targets or to command a retreat.

Z key / X button: Use on animals you've tamed to add or remove them from the troupe.

Esc key / Enter key / Space key / Start button: Pause and enter the menu. Also selects options in the title screen.

Q & E key / L & R bumpers / D-pad: Cycle between items in the inventory, or pages in the menu.

Number keys: Quick select items.

Instructions: 

You're lost in the forest - the areas are all randomly generated, and going off the map generates a new area, with new plants and animals to find. Some animals will attack you if you are within their sights, others are benevolent, and others will run away. 

You can tame animals (C key / A button), which will add them to your troupe. Then, if an animal attacks you, you can command them to defend you (X key / Y button)- this only works on animals that are actively attacking you. Some animals can be KO'd, which allows you to add them to your troupe with 1 hp, while others will permanently die.

Most animals have a certain food that they like- holding this in your hand will cause them to tentatively approach you. If you switch to your hand quickly (V key / B button), you can then tame them much more easily. Make sure to collect all the plants you can find so that you can get every animal's favorite food!

Many plants also bear fruits. These heal your own health (C key / A button), or, if used on a member of your troupe, will heal them instead. You can check your troupe's health in the menu (Esc key / Enter key / Space key / Start button).

At the start of the game, you have an axe and a breeder in your inventory. The breeder allows you to breed two plants or animals together by positioning the item in between them- any plant or animal can be bred together, but some of them have unique hybrids when bred.

Your notebook in the menu gives a log of every living thing you've discovered. You just need to collect a plant to add it, but animals must be tamed to show up there.
